Lee County residents are encouraged to take advantage of Quitline Iowa - free tobacco cessation services. Quitline Iowa provides over the phone counseling to those who wish to quit their tobacco habit. By calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW they will assess readiness to quit, begin working on a quit plan, help plan for cravings, and much more. More information can be found at www.quitlineiowa.org.
Lee County Clean Air Coalition
This group meets once a month to discuss goals regarding helping those quit their tobacco habit, educating youth on the dangers of tobacco, and educating communities on available resources. Meetings rotate each month between LCHD and Keokuk Area Hospital. If interested in learning more about the Lee County Clean Air Coalition please contact the Prevention Coordinator (see below).

Available Resources
LCHD has many resources available in regards to tobacco use and quit information. There is information on how to create a smokefree car, graphic pictures of what chewing tobacco can do to the mouth, and, of course, Quitline Iowa brochures. All these resources are free. Smokefree Air Act
Iowa's Smokefree Air Act began on July 1, 2008. It eliminated smoking in restaurants and bars, workplaces, etc. For more information on the Smokefree Air Act visit www.iowasmokefreeair.gov.
Community Partnership Grant
Lee County Health Department receives the Community Partnership grant from the Iowa Department of Public Health's Division of Tobacco Prevention and Control.
