Inspections

Food Inspections:  include restaurants, taverns, grocery stores, convenience stores, concession stands, warehouses, schools, correctional facilities, temporary food stands, mobile units, vending machines in Lee County.  Inservice trainings and education are available upon request of food establishments. 

Hotel Inspections:  this includes Bed & Breakfasts 

Tanning Facilities:  The LCHD Environmental staff conduct annual inspections of all permitted tanning facilities in Lee County (641 Iowa Administratvice Code Chapter 38 & 46).  This includes, but is not limited to, public and private businesses that charge citizens to tan in their beds.

Tattoo Inspections:  The LCHD Environmental staff conduct annual inspections of all permitted tattoo facilities in Lee County (Iowa Code chapter 28E).  This includes the building or mobile unit where tattooing is practiced.  NOTE:  New rules will be effective as of January 1, 2010.

Pool & Spa Inspections: The LCHD Environmental staff conduct annual inspections of all permitted public swimming pool and spa faciliities in Lee County (Iowa Code 1351: 641-15 IAC).

On-site Wastewater Treatment System

Private Water Wells:  Enforcement of state and county regulations (Chapter 38 - Private Water Wll Construction Permits).

Plugging Abandoned Wells:  Education and guidance provided to assure that land owners properly plug abandonded wells in order to remove the physical hazard they create, as well as, protect our valuable groundwater from surface contamination.

Holding Tanks:  Enforcement of state and county regulations to assure that onsite sewage systems dispose of wastes safely.
