Private Water Wells
Instructions for landowners and certified well-driller:
> The landowner or certified well-driller must apply for a permit before drilling or construction of a new water well.
> The permit must include a list of all wells on the property (including non-plugged wells, and location of each well).
> Each application must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $100 payable to the Lee County Health Department ($25 of the fee will be sent to the Department of Natural Resources).
> Information from the application will be recorded by the LCHD Environmental staff on the DNR computer system.
> A permit will remain vaild for a period of six months from the date of issue.
> The landowner or certified well-driller must notify LCHD when drilling will start.
